

Michelle Carhart has been with FLF since it began in July 2005. Ms. Carhart has a BS in Economics and Business from University of Maryland and a law degree from American University. Prior to joining FLF, Ms. Carhart worked as a budget officer for American University. Aside from her financial background, Ms. Carhart gained significant experience of nonprofit management when she served as administrator of the Marshall-Brennan Constitutional Literacy Project at American University for four years. It was during her time with the Constitutional Literacy Project that she forged close working relationships with many D.C. high school principals and developed a deep commitment to educating D.C. youth. Ms. Carhart has more than 15 years experience as a teacher, coach, tutor, and mentor. Teaching financial education has enabled her to use her education and work experience to help D.C. students succeed. In addition to her position as executive director, Ms. Carhart teaches three Financial Management courses.
